Service

Cold Room & Walk-in Freezer Construction

Purpose-built walk-in cold rooms and freezer rooms — from a single 12 m² chiller to multi-chamber storage complexes. We size the plant to the real heat load, not a catalogue guess, and install the full system including racks, evaporators, doors and controls.

Scope

What's included

  • Heat load calculation per chamber and product type
  • Insulated panel walls, ceilings and suspended ceiling systems
  • Hinged, sliding and high-speed insulated doors
  • Compressor racks, scroll and semi-hermetic options
  • Air-cooled and evaporative condensers
  • Ceiling and dual-discharge evaporators with electric or hot-gas defrost
  • Temperature logging, alarms and remote monitoring
  • Commissioning, pull-down testing and performance sign-off

Why it matters

Benefits

Correctly sized plant

Heat load is calculated from product mass, pull-down time, door traffic and ambient — so the room holds temperature in February, not just on paper.

Lower running cost

Right-sized compressors, EC fans and floating head pressure control cut kWh per pallet meaningfully against legacy plant.

Built for washdown

Coved joints, food-grade sealants and sloped drainage so hygiene audits pass without remedial work.

Serviceable by design

Accessible plantrooms, isolation valves and labelled circuits mean faster repairs and shorter downtime.

FAQ

Cold Room & Walk-in Freezer Construction questions

How long does a cold room installation take?

A standard walk-in cold room is typically installed and commissioned in 5–15 working days once panels are on site.

Can a cold room be converted into a freezer room?

Sometimes — it depends on panel thickness, floor insulation and door sealing. We assess the envelope before quoting, because under-insulated conversions run permanently expensive.

Do you supply backup for load shedding?

Yes. We specify generator changeover, phase protection and soft-start or VSD arrangements so compressors survive unstable supply.
